Dropping Lola at school this morning felt like dropping her into a lions' den. She was engulfed in a flurry of Lancashire accents and girls who already knew each other. Her words "I feel like we've left our perfect life in Witney" didn't help. I cried.
Picked her up in the afternoon praying to a god I don't believe in that she'd had a good day and the god I don't believe in came up trumps. She was v. chirpy. Her only complaint was that in the canteen they'd put her salad ON TOP of her macaroni cheese. I liked that the Head gave the Year 7s a welcome speech where she read out bits from novels where characters start secondary school: Harry Potter at Hogwarts, Matilda at Miss Trunchbull's school...
"And everyone said I sounded soooo British," she said.
N.B. I lost my camera today - gutted. Did take a photo exactly like this one, but without the sunshine. Insert lashing rain instead.
